The presentation gets them to visualize different syllables and stress points.
You can use these pronunciation slides to teach students in grades 5-8. It works great as supplementary material on pronunciation and syllable division. Teachers have also had success using this resource teaching students with prosodic differences.
THE PROCESS:
Students see different sets of words like strategic, strategy, and strategize together all on one slide, and the animated stress markers pop up above each. You can pronounce them for students and have them repeat after you. This easily gets your entire class to practice pronouncing words together.
HOW TO USE THE SLIDES:
Using the slides on this PowerPoint is easy. Each slide has three words, totaling 105 different words. Open the PowerPoint and go to the first slide. Then, open the presentation mode and begin using it. The first slide is automated and advances by itself. While in presentation mode, a single click reveals the number of syllables above each word with the stress for each highlighted in yellow. To advance to the next slide, click once. There are 35 slides in total.
The download includes advanced teacher notes and an instructional guide, which is designed to make using the slides simple and stress-free. You’ll be able to power up the presentation and begin using it quickly.
