This is an easy-to-use grading rubric for determining how well your students have participated and engaged in your class and its activities, both on and offline. It has four domains of assessment: effort, behavior, preparation, and the deliverable (their effort applied to an assignment or task). You can rank each area based on a four-tier measurement scale, so your students will see how well they did and find areas of improvement.
You’ll love this rubric because its purposefully written for easy transparency between the teacher and student, so your expectations can be easily understood. There is also a follow-up comprehension quiz that you can give to your students after going over the criteria with them.
This rubric comes in two formats: Microsoft Word AND Excel. The Word version allows you to change the wording to fit your own distinct classroom norms and the Excel version calculates percentages for measurement and record keeping.
USE THIS RUBIC FOR…
- …communicating effort between parents, students, and teachers.
- …helping your students understand what participation means and how to engage effectively in your class.
- …assessing the degree to which your students have taken part in class and assignments.
