By associating an animal, for example ‘alligator’, with a letter, ‘A’, your learners build a stronger capacity for letter recognition and recall, an important foundational skill for future word-building.
This resource has 26 flashcards, one for each letter of the alphabet, A-Z. Each card shows an animal and asks students first, which animal they see and, second, the letter it starts with. It’s perfect for young learners exploring the alphabet for the first time or for revision of past lessons.
DIGITAL INSTRUCTION included! This resource also has a PowerPoint that can be used both in the classroom for a guessing game OR online for distance instruction. The PowerPoint has all the cards embedded and starts with a clickable menu where learners can select a card at random and then try to guess the animal and letter they start with. All animations are pre-keyed and ready to teach.
Extra content includes 26 letter flash cards (A-Z) plus two reference boards: one with the letters and one with the animals. There are spaces on each for learners to write the letter or animal, and they make great homework extensions.
